Electrical and Computer Science Engineering - Computational Facilities
The department has robust computational facilities with the latest updated software like MATLAB, ANSYS, Visual TCAD and many open source software.
ANSYS (Multiphysics Engineering Simulation) offers Structural Analysis, Fluid Dynamics, Explicit Dynamics, Electronics, Multi-physics solvers, ANSYS workbench, CAD import tools, Solid Modelling, Advanced Meshing and post-processing features. The ANSYS Electronics incudes ANSYS HFSS (Finite Element Analysis) and simulates full-wave electromagnetic fields. It incorporates finite element, integral equation, and hybrid methods to solve a wide range of microwave, RF and high-speed digital applications. ANSYS Maxwell (Finite Element Analysis) includes electromagnetic field simulation, designing and analyzing electromagnetic and electromechanical devices e.g. motors, actuators, transformers, sensors and coils. It solves static, frequency-domain, and time-varying electromagnetic and electric fields. ANSYS Si-wave (specialized design platform) incorporates power integrity, signal integrity and Electromagnetic interference (EMI) analysis of electronic packages and PCBs.
MATLAB & Simulink is utilized to analyze the data and to develop the user-friendly algorithms and to create models for various real-time applications. There are 25 toolboxes available such as Curve Fitting Toolbox, Optimization Toolbox, Global Optimization Toolbox, Neural Network Toolbox, Fuzzy Logic Toolbox, Robust Control Toolbox, Signal Processing Toolbox, DSP System Toolbox, Wavelet Toolbox, Image Processing Toolbox etc.
Visual TCAD from COGENDA is used for simulation and designing of micro-/nano-electronic devices and circuits. It includes Device structure drawing tool, Circuit schematic capturing tool, GUI simulation controller, Visualization tool of simulation results, Spreadsheet and X-Y plotting tool.
Open Source Software: GNU Radio SDR framework is being utilized for developing streaming, real-time signal processing applications for Software Defined Radio (SDR) on general purpose processors. Further, Solar Cell Capacitance Simulator (SCAPS-1D) is utilized for designing thin film solar cell.
