Drone Technology
The minor program in Drone Technology at IITRAM is offered to meritorious undergraduate students of all Engineering disciplines, who look to explore the multi-disciplinary domains of aerospace and robotics applications.
The Drone Technology minor program is designed to expose students to the fundamentals of the aerospace domain with a specific focus on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) during semesters 3 to 7.The courses focus on engagement with the user community and conceiving feasible solutions for defense as well as civilian applications, model and simulate, designing and realize, test, deploy and maintain, awareness towards related policy and regulations for UAVs.
To get the minor in Drone Technology, a student is required to earn a minimum of 16 credits (and complete five Drone Technology courses) during the period of their undergraduate studies. These courses build a solid foundation in Drone Technology and enable students to work on interesting problems of an interdisciplinary nature in both academics and industry.
Scope of the program in Drone Technology
- Fundamentals of drone technology, including aerodynamics, power systems, and flight controls.
- Drone design and construction, including materials selection and structural analysis.
- Sensors and instrumentation used in drone systems, such as cameras, GPS, and altitude sensors.
- Software and programming for drone control and data analysis.
- Applications of drone technology, such as aerial photography, agriculture, infrastructure inspection, and search and rescue operations.
- Regulations and safety considerations for drone operations, including air traffic control and privacy concerns.
