The urban city is the strongest pillar of any country. Transportation facilities, road networks, and efficient travel times all have a direct impact on the development and growth rate of any urban city. Developing countries have faced a gigantic problem of illegal on-street parking. The present study gives an explanation of parking characteristics and the best suitable solutions with a concern about illegal on-street parking in Ahmedabad city. Based on the media report and the Suo moto cognizance PIL order of the Gujarat High Court, the study has been bifurcated into three different study areas. The characteristics of bifurcated study areas are useful for any urban city, and research solutions can also be implemented. A fixed period sampling survey has been conducted for seven days with 15 min of the interval from 10 AM to 8 PM for three different study areas. The collected survey samples have been analysed with Indian Roads Congress (2015) (IRC:SP:12-2015 manual on 52. In: Guidelines for parking facilities in urban areas, pp 1–59. Retrieved from https://law.resource.org/pub/in/bis/irc/irc.gov.in.sp.012.2015.pdf) guidelines. Three different study areas have their own illegal on-street parking problems. Based on their problems, the most suitable solutions have been provided. The online parking survey gives information regarding people’s views of urban parking. The new parking spaces, strict enforcement, the PPP mode of parking sharing, and kerb parking for two-wheelers should be concluded in the research study.
