Syllabus - M. Tech. Geotechnical Engineering

A postgraduate degree programme – ‘M. Tech. Geotechnical Engineering’ is offered by Department of Civil Engineering at IITRAM. The course is intended to disseminate the understanding of the engineering behavior of soil, rock and other geomaterials for various infrastructure projects. The course emphasizes on design of geotechnical structures and foundations, ground modification and improvement, geoenvironmental aspects, sustainable geotechnical applications and various other aspects related to construction within/with/on geomaterials. Geotechnical Engineering plays a key role in various infrastructure development projects for urban areas, rural areas, mining activities, energy sectors, military applications, offshore infrastructure development, other industries, etc.

The geotechnical specialization includes courses such as: Advanced Soil Mechanics, Soil-structure Interaction, Geotechnics for Ground Modification, Soil Dynamics and Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering, Advanced Foundation Engineering, Geosynthetics and Reinforced Earth Structures, Environmental Geotechnology, Transportation Geotechnics, Rock Mechanics, Remote Sensing, Forensic Geotechnical Engineering, Design of Underground Structures, etc. The program is intended to develop technical skills and knowhow for tackling the challenging geotechnical problems for various infrastructure projects.
