CNC Shop
Numerical Control (NC) is a software-based machine tool control technique developed at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in early 1960s. It has now evolved into a mature technology known as Computer Numerical Control (CNC). At IITRAM workshop students are trained in CNC part programming and CNC tooling at CNC shop. These help the students understand the functioning of the entire CNC system and appreciate the intricacies in handling and maintaining CNC machines. Students learn the various topics on CNC programming such as types of motions, cutter compensations, work offsets, coordinate transformations, canned cycles, sub-programs, macros etc. Programming examples and exercises for lathes and milling machines are part of learning in each topic. More emphasis is on hands on training.
