During the last few decades, surface texturing in journal bearings has become an emerging area, to harness good performance. In the current theoretical investigation, the performance of a three-lobe profile slot-entry journal bearing arrangement is examined in relation to the combined effects of micropolar fluid and textured surface. Here, the Reynolds equation for flow of micropolar lubricant has been derived with the help of Eringen's theory of micropolar fluids. This Eringen’s fluid theory characterizes the flow behavior of polymer fluids consisting of micro-suspended particles having three additional rotational degrees of freedom with respect of Newtonian fluid. The FEM algorithm was used to find the solution to the modified Reynolds equation. The findings of this investigation show that the usage of micropolar lubricant in three-lobe textured slot-entry journal bearing yields significant improvement in the film stiffness and stability parameters by order of 52% and 35%, respectively, over a usage of Newtonian lubricant in smooth circular profile journal bearing.
