Administrative responsibilities in IIT Bombay
Held the position of Professor-in-Charge, New IIT Mentoring Cell, Responsible for setting up new IITs at Goa and Dharwad.
Held the position of Dean, Academic Programmes in IIT Bombay from 2010 to 2013.
Head, Physics Department, IIT Bombay from 1996-99 and from 2004-05.
Chairman of GATE’96 and Vice-chairman of GATE’94. GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is an all India examination conducted by IITs on behalf of Ministry Of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
i. At Laboratoire de Magnetisme, CNRS, Bellevue, France, 1977-79 as a French Govt. Fellow.
ii. At California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, USA, 1979-80 as IBM Research Fellow.
